## What uses credits

- Messages you send while building. A Plan Mode message costs 1 credit. Default Mode messages vary with the work done, for example 0.50, 0.90, 1.20 or 1.70 credits. ([source](https://lovable.dev/pricing))
- Lovable Cloud hosting and the AI features your app uses at run time. ([source](https://lovable.dev/pricing))
- Managed connectors such as Perplexity, Firecrawl and Parallel are billed in credits. ([source](https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage))
- Usage-specific grants (such as daily build credits) are used before general credits, and general credits closest to expiry go first. ([source](https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage))

## Where to see your usage

- Workspace settings, then Plans & credit usage, shows your balance, usage details split into build and run credits, and top-ups. ([source](https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage))
- Each message's cost is in your message history: open the three dots on the message. ([source](https://lovable.dev/pricing))

## How to cap spend

- On all paid plans, Workspace settings, then Usage limits & alerts, sets credit limits per member, per project or for the whole workspace, with alerts. ([source](https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage))
- Owners and admins can set a default monthly credit limit for each member. ([source](https://lovable.dev/pricing))
- Long runs check in with you, by default at 20 credits. This is a check-in, not a hard cap. ([source](https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage))
- If your balance reaches zero while Lovable is working, the message pauses. You can add credits to resume. ([source](https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage))

## What the plan price does not cover

- Credits are not refundable. ([source](https://lovable.dev/pricing))
- Top-ups last 12 months. Monthly plan credits expire 2 months after they are issued. Daily build credits reset at 00:00 UTC and do not carry over. ([source](https://docs.lovable.dev/introduction/credits-and-usage))
