Muse vs Dots vs Grok Bot, plus Alexa+, Claude Duet, Comet, Copilot Cowork, Gemini and more

Thirteen personal AI assistants that take actions for you, compared on price, free options, approvals, unused credits, regions and platforms. Every fact links to the vendor's own page, all checked Oct 22 to Nov 3, 2026.

  • 13 assistants

  • Checked Oct 22 to Nov 3, 2026
  • No hands-on testing
  • Alphabetical, no ranking

Quick answer

  • Alexa+, Comet, Muse, Claude, Manus and ChatGPT Work have a free way in; Gemini tasks need Google AI Pro ($19.99/mo), Dots needs ChatGPT Pro (from $100/mo) and Grok Bot starts at $30/mo.
  • Big platforms now ship their own agents: Alexa+ is free with Prime in the US and has launched in more than 10 other countries, Copilot Cowork is in preview for Microsoft 365 Premium and Pro subscribers, and Claude Duet is a US waitlist preview for Claude Pro, Max and Ultra.
  • The real differences are in the fine print: whether unused credits roll over, regional limits, and which actions wait for your approval.

Head to head: Muse vs Grok Bot, Muse vs Dots, ChatGPT Work vs Claude.

The short answer

  • Try one for free: Muse is free with a usage limit[5] and offered in North America, Japan and Singapore[3][4]. Manus gives 300 free credits a day[45], Claude has a Free plan[20], ChatGPT Work is free in the desktop app[16], and Comet is a free browser with an assistant built in[27].
  • You have Amazon Prime: Alexa+ is included in the US and can order takeout, book tables and rides[41]. Amazon lists it in 10 more countries, most through Early Access, plus Early Access in India and Japan[42].
  • You pay for Google AI Pro or Ultra: Gemini tasks keep working in the background[38], outside the EEA, Nigeria, Switzerland and the UK[37].
  • You pay for Microsoft 365 Premium or Pro: Copilot Cowork is in preview for you; Personal and Family plans lose access[35].
  • You pay for Claude in the US: join the Claude Duet waitlist for an assistant that checks in with you[25].
  • You already pay for ChatGPT Pro: your first dot is included[8], and ChatGPT Work is too[17].
  • You want several agents sharing one workspace: Grok Bot Bots can use a persistent cloud computer, connected tools, websites and files[14], from $30/mo[12].
  • A team assistant with a hard spending stop: Lindy[49]. Planning your week: Motion[51].

What users complain about (opinion): allowances that run out fast come up for ChatGPT Work, Grok Bot and Manus, repeated approval prompts for Dots, and CAPTCHAs or logins that stop tasks for Grok Bot and Muse. See community sentiment.

Monthly price, entry to top plan

Personal plans in US dollars, month to month unless marked, before tax. The scale is logarithmic so $8 and $1,000 fit on one line. Free options are shown on the cards above.

Alexa+$19.99, or included with Prime[43]
ChatGPT Work$8 Go to $500 Pro[17]
Claude$20 Pro to $200 Ultra[20]
Claude DuetSame as Claude Pro, Max and Ultra[25]
Comet$17 Pro (annual)[28] to $200 Max[29]
Copilot Cowork$19.99 Premium to $99.99 Pro[34][36]
Dots$100 to $500 ChatGPT Pro[9]
Gemini$19.99 Pro to $199.99 Ultra[39]
Grok Bot$30 Premium to $200 Ultra[12]
Lindy$29.99 to $999.95 per user, by credit tier; some visitors see tiers starting at $49.99[49]
Manus$20 to $200[44]
Motion$49 Pro AI to $69 Business AI, monthly[50]
Muse$20 Power to $100 Maximum[5]

Open ended bars (Claude, Claude Duet) mean the vendor lists the top plan as "from" that price. Copilot Cowork needs Microsoft 365 Premium or Pro; Microsoft says Personal and Family subscribers lose access to Cowork[35].

  • It comes to you

    Claude Duet

Duet briefs you each morning and checks your connected accounts every few hours[24]. US waitlist for Claude Pro, Max and Ultra[25].

The fine print people miss

  • Credits

Most allowances do not roll over

Manus monthly credits reset with no rollover[46] and go to zero if you cancel[47]. Motion AI credits reset each cycle[51]. Lindy keeps only top-up credits[49]. Muse weekly usage does not roll over, though bought tokens never expire[6].

  • Shared limits

    One pool, many products

Grok Bot shares a weekly pool with Grok and Cursor[13]. ChatGPT Work shares an allowance with Codex[17]. Claude Duet shares your Claude plan's limits, and its background checks count too[25].

  • Region

    Check where it is offered

Gemini tasks are not offered in the EEA, Nigeria, Switzerland or the UK[37]; Dots on Pro is not in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK[8]. Claude Duet[25] and Gemini in Chrome auto browse[40] are US only, and Muse launched in North America in September, in Japan on Oct 23, 2026[3] and in Singapore on Oct 27, 2026[4]. Amazon lists Alexa+ in the US and 10 more countries, most of them through an Early Access program, and Early Access in India and, since Oct 29, 2026, Japan[42].

  • Responsibility

You own what the agent does

Google says you are responsible for Gemini's actions in Chrome, including mistakes like purchases[40]. Microsoft says you are responsible for actions Copilot takes on your behalf[32].

  • Preview

    Previews and experiments

Claude Duet is a research preview on a waitlist[25], Copilot Cowork for personal accounts is in Preview[32], and Google calls tasks experimental[37].

  • Deleting

    Disconnecting is not deleting

Disconnecting an app does not delete what your dot learned; you reset the dot for that[8]. Deleting a Grok Bot can leave files and logins on the shared computer[14], and xAI says separate Bots are not a security boundary[15].

  • Seats

    Seats and trials bill quietly

Lindy bills every active user, including people who only @mention it in Slack[49]. Motion sells seats in bundles[51] and its trials bill unless you cancel[52]. Manus does not refund a charged trial[47].

  • Plans

Who gets the AI on family plans

On Microsoft 365 Premium and Pro, the AI features are for the subscription owner only[34][36], and Cowork is not included with Personal or Family[35]. Alexa+ on Echo needs Prime or the Standard plan[43].

Which Muse, which Dots, which Claude?

Muse here means Meta's personal AI agent at ai.meta.com/muse, used in the Muse app on mobile and Mac or in WhatsApp[1]. It is not Meta's Muse Spark or Muse Wonder AI models (Meta says Muse runs on Muse Spark[2]), and not Microsoft's Muse game model or the Muse writing and note apps.

Dots means OpenAI's dots, announced Sept 29, 2026: always on agents in ChatGPT, Slack and Teams[7]. OpenAI writes the name in lower case. It is not the dots.ocr model.

Claude is Anthropic's main app, which now includes what used to be Cowork[21]. Claude Duet is a separate proactive agent app in research preview[25], announced Oct 21, 2026[24]. Claude Tag is a Slack teammate for Claude Team and Enterprise customers[26], so it is not covered here as a personal assistant.

Copilot Cowork is Microsoft's agent in Microsoft 365, not Anthropic's former Claude Cowork. Microsoft is moving Copilot Tasks into Cowork for personal plans[32], and Personal and Family subscribers lose access to Cowork[35]. Comet is Perplexity's browser[27], not the Comet machine learning platform. Gemini here means tasks in the Gemini app[37] and auto browse in Gemini in Chrome[40].

Approvals and control

  • Claude: Auto mode is the default on Pro, Max, Ultra and Team plans and runs automated safety checks before Claude takes an action; Manual mode, the default on Enterprise, asks before each action[23]. We mark this as Partly, because on most personal plans it does not ask first unless you switch to Manual.
  • ChatGPT Work: in Plan mode you can suggest changes or approve the plan before the work starts[16]. We mark this as Partly, because the page describes approving a plan rather than each action.
  • Claude Duet: asks before sensitive operations like sending messages or paying, and you can see what it is doing and steer it[25].
  • Comet: if Comet needs access to another service like Gmail, Perplexity says it always asks for approval first, and that Comet never has access to your passwords or payment data[31]. We mark this as Partly, because it covers connecting services.
  • Copilot Cowork: you review and approve sensitive actions[32]. For Copilot Tasks, Microsoft lists purchases, submitting personal information and actions involving other people among the steps that need approval[33].
  • Dots: per action rules let it act, act only when asked, ask first or hand off to you; some steps, like changing a password, always stay with you[8].
  • Gemini: for certain actions it asks you to take over the task[37]; in Chrome you review and confirm sensitive steps[40].
  • Grok Bot: Auto Review checks sensitive actions, and approval requests from work that started without you expire after about 10 minutes[15].
  • Lindy: anything with outside impact, like sending an email, waits for approval[49].
  • Muse: you review and approve actions before they happen, like sending emails and making purchases, and can see a complete audit trail[1]. Meta says nothing Muse does reaches the internet unless a separate Sentinel approves it, and that it asks you for permission when needed[2].
  • The pages we checked for Alexa+, Manus and Motion do not describe an approval step, so we do not claim one either way. ChatGPT Work replaced the retired ChatGPT agent mode[18].

Data and model training

AssistantWhat the vendor says
ChatGPT WorkOn Plus you can opt out of model training in Data Controls[19]; Business data is not used for training by default[10].
ClaudeModel training is opt-out on Free, Pro, Max and Ultra; Team plans do not train on your data by default[20].
CometPerplexity says browsing data, including visited sites and cookies, is stored locally, and Comet only sends minimal context to Perplexity when needed[31]. Training is not covered on that page.
Claude DuetApprovals, logins and safety checks run in your own cloud computer[25]. Training is not covered on that page.
DotsPersonal plans can control whether dot conversations and work improve models; Business, Enterprise and Edu content is not used by default[7].
Grok BotTraining opt-out is available and follows your Cursor account privacy settings[11][15]. Legacy Privacy Mode is not supported[14].
LindySays data is never used to train models, and lists SOC 2 and GDPR compliance[49].
ManusIts privacy policy says it may use de-identified data to improve its models[48].
MotionIts privacy notice lists training and developing machine learning algorithms among the uses of collected information[53].
MuseConversations are not shared with Meta's ad systems[1]; you can opt out of your interactions being used to train Meta's AI models[2].
Alexa+, Copilot Cowork, GeminiThe product and help pages we checked do not state a training policy for these features. Check each vendor's privacy settings before connecting accounts.

Where official pages disagree

  • Gemini tasks plans: Google's help article says tasks need Google AI Pro or Ultra[37], while the subscriptions page lists "first access to advanced features like Tasks in Gemini" under Ultra[39]. We follow the help article.
  • Grok Bot usage multipliers: the Grok Bot page describes Super as 3.5x and Ultra as 12x Premium usage[11], while the pricing page lists Premium at 4x, Super at 15x and Ultra at 50x Plus usage[12]. We quote prices only.
  • Grok Bot platforms: the product page lists macOS, Windows and iOS[11]; the docs also list Linux and Android[14]. We use the docs.
  • Lindy plans: the feature list mentions computer use "on Pro and Max", but the plan table shows Free, Team and Enterprise[49].

Community sentiment (opinion, not vendor facts)

This section is opinion. It summarizes what people posted on X and Reddit between Aug 23, 2026 and Oct 22, 2026. These are individual users' views, not facts we verified and not our test results. Vendor facts stay in the sections above.

How we gathered it: we searched X through its official read only API and Reddit through web search, in r/AI_Agents, r/alexa, r/ChatGPT, r/ClaudeAI, r/GeminiAI, r/GrokBot, r/ManusOfficial, r/MetaAI, r/microsoft_365_copilot, r/MuseAgent, r/OpenAI, r/perplexity_ai, r/singularity and r/UseMotion; searches of r/artificial, r/LocalLLaMA and r/ProductivityApps found no threads in the window that we could confirm. A theme needs at least two posts from different people. X quotes are word for word, and dates are Pacific time. Reddit blocked our direct reads, so we confirmed each thread through search, paraphrase it, and do not show dates. Grok Bot is made by xAI, which also runs X, so X may be more favorable ground for it. Where coverage is thin, we say so.

Alexa+ 10 linked posts

Some say it is a step back from the original Alexa

Several posters say routines, music and everyday requests worked better before the upgrade, and mention slow or wrong answers and missing features such as account switching.

Unwanted suggestions and personal questions

Some users say Alexa+ volunteers suggestions or asks personal questions they did not want, and that they could not find a way to turn the suggestions off.

A smaller group finds it better

A few posters say it works better than the original Alexa.

ChatGPT Work 8 linked posts

Usage limits run out quickly

Posters say heavy Work sessions use up their allowance fast, and several connect it to the allowance shared with Codex.

Hard to tell the products apart

Some users find Work, Codex, the desktop app and the cloud version confusing, and others ask what Work mode is for.

Claude 5 linked posts

Mixed reactions to Cowork moving into Claude

Some users welcome having one app; others say they preferred Cowork as a separate product.

Project files after the merge

Posters describe project folders that went missing, were duplicated or became read-only after the change.

Claude Duet 2 linked posts, thin coverage

Claude Duet launched Oct 21, 2026, a day before we checked, so there is very little community discussion yet. Early hands-on reviews are in the expert section below.

Interest in the waitlist, and US only access

Early posts are mostly people joining or asking about the US waitlist, plus launch news.

Comet 5 linked posts

The free browser gets praise

Several posters say they like Comet as an everyday browser.

Agent work moving to paid credits

Some Reddit users say recent changes put the assistant's agent work behind Computer credits and that this made Comet less useful to them. Perplexity's help center confirms Work mode uses credits and Search mode does not (see the facts above).

Copilot Cowork 3 linked posts, thin coverage

We found few posts about Cowork on personal Microsoft 365 accounts in the window, and many results were about the business product.

A rough consumer rollout

Early users describe one session at a time, steps that do not finish and earlier Copilot tasks that stopped working after the move to Cowork.

Dots 9 linked posts

Approval prompts get in the way

Several users say they approve the same kinds of actions over and over, and that auto review blocks steps they expected to be allowed.

Early reliability problems

Some posters describe a dot that did not respond, lost work or needed a revert in the first weeks.

Access and cost at launch

Reddit users asked whether others had received a dot yet, and some felt the Pro price is a high barrier to entry.

Gemini 11 linked posts

Many users call this feature Gemini Spark; Google's help center calls it tasks.

Tasks that stop partway

Users describe tasks that fail or disappear mid task and scheduled runs that do not complete.

Mixed feelings about the redesign

Users noticed Spark turning into a task mode inside the Gemini app, and reactions to the change are split.

Some users are impressed

Others describe useful background runs and say it handled real chores well.

Grok Bot 12 linked posts

Grok Bot is made by xAI, which also runs X, so posts about it on X may be more frequent and more favorable. We weigh Reddit threads equally and list criticism before praise.

Weekly usage runs out fast

Users on Reddit and X, including paying subscribers on higher plans, say they reach the weekly limit before the week ends.

CAPTCHAs, outages and off days

Posters describe tasks stopped by CAPTCHAs or site blocks, a service outage, and days when quality seemed to drop.

Enthusiastic heavy users

Some users say they run several Bots every day and rely on them for real work.

Lindy 3 linked posts, thin coverage

We found few independent Lindy posts in the window, and the Reddit threads we found were older. Some X posts below read like launch promotion.

Scheduling by copying Lindy on an email

The feature people mention most is copying Lindy on an email thread so it can find a meeting time.

Manus 9 linked posts

Credits burn faster than expected

The most common complaint: single tasks, loops or reruns using far more credits than users expected.

Billing, refunds and an August outage

Some users report trouble getting refunds or billing answers, and an outage in late August. One account posting these claims says they are unverified.

Free credits draw people in

Others point to the free daily credits as a reason to try it.

Motion 1 linked posts, thin coverage

We found only one Motion thread in the window, which is not enough to report a theme. Searches on X for Motion mostly returned posts about other things named motion.

Muse 10 linked posts

Handy for everyday chores

Users describe Muse handling reminders, bookings and household tasks with little setup.

CAPTCHAs, logins and blocked tasks

Posters say tasks stall on CAPTCHAs, sign ins or sites that block the agent.

Memory and context slips

Some long term users say Muse forgot standing rules or basic details after a while.

What experts are saying

Dated, linked takes from people who write about AI tools, with their affiliations. These are their opinions. We found no expert takes in the window on Alexa+, ChatGPT Work as a standalone product, Comet, Copilot Cowork, Gemini tasks, Lindy, Manus or Motion.

I think the more important thing is what you no longer have to tell them.

On judging dots and Muse by how much context they pick up on their own, rather than by a list of tasks.

How these takes shape the verdicts

They do not change any vendor fact or price. They shape what we flag: the repeated approval prompts that Dan Shipper and users describe for Dots, the email and memory gaps Peter Yang and Allie K. Miller note across agents, and Claude Duet's polish and early state as described by early reviewers, two of whom had early access. Where an expert has a tie to a vendor, the disclosure sits next to the take.

How we put this together

We read each vendor's pricing page, product page, docs and help center from Oct 22 to Nov 3, 2026, wrote the comparison from those pages only, then fetched every source again to check each claim, and ran a third, independent sweep of every link and number. Where a page would not load or a claim could not be confirmed, we left it out. The community and expert sections are separate: we searched X and Reddit for posts from the last 60 days, kept only themes raised by at least two different people, linked every post, and labeled all of it as opinion. We have not used these assistants for this comparison, so there are no test results, scores or ratings here. Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. More in our methodology.

FAQ

Did you test these assistants yourself?

No. This comparison is built from each vendor's own pricing pages, docs and help centers, checked Oct 22 to Nov 3, 2026. We have not run hands-on tests, and nothing here is a benchmark or a rating.

Is any assistant favored?

No. This page has no ranking. Assistants are listed alphabetically everywhere on it, every one is held to the same evidence rules, and each suggestion is tied to a specific job.

Which of these can I try for free?

Per their own pages: Muse (free with a usage limit), Claude (Free plan), Manus (300 free credits a day), ChatGPT Work (Free plan, desktop app), Comet (free browser) and Alexa+ (free text chat, or included with Prime in the US). Gemini is free, but tasks need Google AI Pro or Ultra. Lindy offers $50 in trial credits for 7 days and Motion a free trial. Dots, Grok Bot, Claude Duet and Copilot Cowork need a paid plan.

Is Claude Duet the same as Claude?

No. Claude Duet is a separate, proactive agent app from Anthropic in research preview for US Claude Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers. It uses your Claude account and shares your plan's usage limits, so we list it as its own entry.

Where does the community sentiment come from?

From public posts on X and Reddit between Aug 23 and Oct 22, 2026. Each theme is backed by at least two linked posts from different people. It is opinion, kept separate from vendor facts, and we say when coverage is thin. Grok Bot is made by xAI, which also runs X.

Do the expert takes change the verdicts?

They do not change any fact or price. They help decide what to flag, like approval prompts or features that are not ready yet, and every take shows the person's vendor ties.

Is any of this sponsored?

No. No vendor paid for this guide or for placement in it. If we ever run sponsored placements on the site, they are labeled Sponsored and kept separate from editorial pages.
